This HVAC system replacement on Hillside Road in Greenwich, CT updated equipment that had served the home since the 1990s. After the older system developed a refrigerant leak and required periodic refrigerant additions, the homeowner decided it was time for a planned replacement rather than continuing to invest in aging equipment.
Air Handler and Condensing Unit Replacement in Greenwich, CT
Greenwich HVAC installed a new First Company hydronic air handler and an American Standard 14 SEER condensing unit. The new air handler was connected to the home’s existing hydronic piping and ductwork, while the outdoor unit was installed on a raised composite pad with a clean crushed-stone base.
We also installed a new auxiliary safety pan, condensate pump, float switch, and wet-switch detector. Together, these components provide multiple layers of condensate overflow protection around the indoor equipment.
The existing refrigeration lines were retained and tied into the new equipment. Before startup, we pressure-tested the refrigeration piping, evacuated the lines with a vacuum pump, and charged the system with refrigerant. We then started and tested the completed system to verify proper operation.
Because the existing controls were working correctly and the homeowner was satisfied with them, we reused them rather than replacing functional components unnecessarily. The finished project provides updated heating and cooling equipment while preserving the parts of the existing system that remained serviceable.
